...aaand with the right google search I might have found the reason to my problems. There are limits to how many series one can display as well as how many datapoints can be displayed. Infuriating, that this isn't something that pops up as a warning in a visual...

      Thank you parry2k for taking the time to answer! As you mentioned I seem to have found the explanation to my problems so I marked it as the solution (it's sooo rewarding to mark your own answer as the solution...;) ).
