I have a report of case data being fed by an API. I'm wondering if there's a way for the end user to click into a data point and see the backend data (i.e. the case data that is feeding the visualization).

Based on the information you have provided, Here are my answers to your questions.
1. Create a simple Table with a Pie chart to display at Visualization.
2. Click Data/Drill or click Show as a table.
3. When clicking on the Visual table the overall data will be displayed, when clicking on the Data point table, you can display the specific values you need.
