View As Role Grayed out Tabular SSAS?
I was testing security today and noticed that "View as" under Security is grayed out for my SSAS live Tabular data model connection.
I recall being able to change my roles in the past or view as different users for testing.
Is this expected behavior?
Yes, there is no option for that. Actually, when you connect to an Analysis Services model, its RLS rules have started working so that the data you see in Power BI Desktop is already the data your account has access to according to the rules in this model. If you want to view data as another user, you need to connect to the model using another user's account and credentials.
As the roles are defined in the AS model, you can test these roles in AS model designer tool.

Jing

Yes, this is the expected result. You can't define roles within Power BI Desktop for Analysis Services live connections. You need to do that within the Analysis Services model. This is by design.
