Using map to show/filter relevant data in nearby visuals (leveraging the highlight feature)

Hi all,

I want to leverage PowerBI's highlight feature to create a report so that clicking a point on a map will filter visuals to the right of the map. This is obviously a default feature ("highlight"), however, I'm not sure what to display when nothing is selected. Certain visuals make sense as an aggregate but others (like text fields) do not. So for those, it would be best to either show nothing or show something like "Select a location." Any ideas?

@Domenick,

You could try a measure like this:

Example Measure =
IF (
    ISCROSSFILTERED ( DimTable[Location] ),
    <Your measure>,
    "Select a location"
)

When nothing is selected on the map (i.e. no location has been clicked), the measure will return the text "Select a location". Otherwise, it will return the measure you want to display.
