Using Smart Narrative with visual also using Play Axis

I created a column and line chart showing annual data from 1996-2021 that uses play axis to animate the visual. I want to add some narrative that will show at certain points as the visual is playing. I've been trying to do this with the smart narrative but it just keeps the text on the page the whole time, when I'd like it to appear at certain points and fade out at others and be replaced by new text. Is this possible?

Text box is static, while the card visual is dynamic. You can create a measure with the returned result being text and put it into the card visual.
