Using Sharepoint Excel in PBI: best approach to avoid accidental user sabotage?

So, apologies if this is too vague.

We're loading data into PowerBI from an Excel file in Sharepoint. The file does not belong to the BI team, and users, bless them, keep changing the filename, and/or renaming/moving the folders.

There are many different ways of getting the data in to PBI: most of them rely on a fixed filename and path being supplied (although I've seen one which filters on filename and thus gets round changes in folder path). Is there any route which uses say a file ID, which might be folder and filename agnostic, and would thus be less susceptible to user change?
