Using MongoDB ODBC connector with PowerBI "Invalid Cursor State" error

Hi all,

We are interested in using PowerBI to visualize our data stored in MongoDB. To get the data from MongoDB to PowerBI, we have set up the MongoDB ODBC connector version 2.13.

When trying to access certain tables from the database in PowerBI, we recieve the following error:

  • DataSource.Error: ODBC: ERROR [24000] [MySQL][ODBC 1.4(w) Driver][mysqld-5.7.12 mongosqld v2.13.4]Invalid cursor state
    Details:
    DataSourceKind=Odbc
    DataSourcePath=dsn=Mongo_Localhost
    OdbcErrors=[Table]

This is preventing us from loading all the tables into PowerBI, as the queries stop on the first failure.

Has anyone seen this issue before? And if so, could you share some information regarding the error/fix?

Thanks,

Will

@wSchweinsberg

I have resolved this issue by following the below steps.

  • Disabled the Parallel load

  • Specified the SQL query, instead of using EditQuery navigation steps.

@wSchweinsberg , there is a similar kind of error because of encoding

Also, check the ODBC driver you are using. It should be lastest one for the version you are connecting.

Hi @wSchweinsberg ,

It seems like there's something wrong with the cursor state when you implement your sql statement. So the error is more about the SQL statement. In addtion, please check if there's same error when you implememt the same script in your database.
