Use a shared excel workbook as a Data Source

Someone from outside our organisation has send me a shared excel workbook in the below form:

https://their-org.sharepoint.com/:x:/s/Company/EQXR7zf_5MNEmwGi9_97bBoB50VQzRxxgjd9yKl-jPzaeQ?email=...

I have tried refactoring this link into a few different forms (e.g below), but I typically get 'access denied':

https://their-org.sharepoint.com/sites/Company/Shared%20Documents/Clients/Client/Example/file-name.c...

I have also tried using Flow to copy it to a location on our sharepoint, but again I can't get Flow to access this file in any capacity either.

I need to import this data into PowerBI to do my thing. Does anyone have an idea how to import a source like this?

Hi, @Incipient

The most important thing is that you need to be granted access.

You need to have the correct access rights to the shared link and then please make sure that the credentials entered are correct and that the shared link has not expired.
Please refer to the information below for the procedure to connect data to PowerBI.

Connect Power BI to SharePoint List, SharePoint Folder, SharePoint Excel File

External Sharing in SharePoint Online

Loading Excel Files from Sharepoint

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the help Zeon,

The shared link cannot be added as a "sharepoint folder". I have read-only access to this excel document, and that's it. I don't have any acccess to the other organisations wider sharepoint, so I cannot add the folder using this method.

Hi, @Incipient

It is not necessary to have access to the entire organization, it’s enough to access a single file

Try to get data from web.

Thank you for the reply. None of these apply to accessing a source from another organisation with a shared link.
