Use TotalYTD with UseRelationship

I read on the Userelationship info page that I can use TotalYTD dax with it.  However, whenever I try to do this I am getting blank data results.

My code is below:

  TOTALYTD(
        SUM('FactSales'[Sales]),
        'DatesFilter'[Date].[Date],
        USERELATIONSHIP ( 'DIMCalendar'[Date], 'DatesFilter'[Date] )
    )

I got it to work.  I removed the .date from the first datesfilter filter.

No idea why that worked

	TOTALYTD(
		SUM('FactSales'[Sales]),
		'DatesFilter'[Date],
		USERELATIONSHIP ( 'DIMCalendar'[Date], 'DatesFilter'[Date]  )
	)
