Use Import Mode to Load Data in Power BI Desktop

Hello,

I have created the following model in Visual Studio as shown in the snapshot below.

 

I have then deployed that model in Azure Analysis Services (again as shown in the snapshot below)

 

So far so good. My problem occurs when I try to load the model in Power BI Desktop with the Import option (Connect Live works fine but I also want to add the data). My problem is that all the fields are loaded under Model and not into their respective tables (the tables are lost only appearing in front of the respective fields like product.produckey and all of the under model)! Is there a workaround to make all the tables load separately ?

    It's been a while since I've done this, but from memory you need to create a separate query for each 'table' that you want imported into the Power BI model. So select them one by one and load as separate queries, pulling in the measures as needed to build the table. Essentially you're trying to convert a multidimensional cube to a tabular model, right? So you have to go one by one and tell Power BI how to build the tables.

      So it is interesting that you mentioned that. The project I created in Visual Studio is an Analysis Services Tabular Project.  But you are right it seems that somehow when I deployed the model in Azure AS and then tried to load it into Power BI using import it got changed to a cube for some reason?

       

      Is there a way to load it as a tabular model instead or does that change happen automaticaly so the only solution is to load the tables separately?
