I am planning to use Deneb to have more control on gridline, axis values in a line chart. I am afraid if it will get deprecated ever in future! In the past, I have used a chart which got deprecated and it was a pain to get back from there when the chart is already consumed by the consumer. Although, the chart I used in the past was not Power BI certified and Deneb is but I am still trying to be cautious about it. Can someone help with their opinion and are there limitations to using Deneb as well that I should be aware of?
Hi,

Deneb is Power BI certified and built on Vega/Vega-Lite, the deprecation risk is significantly lower than uncertified visuals, and even if it were ever discontinued, your JSON specs are portable to any Vega renderer. The real limitations to plan for are the steep learning curve, the need to manually configure cross-filtering and tooltips, and potential rendering slowdowns on large datasets.
Hii @Anonymous
Deneb is a safe and powerful choice for advanced visuals in Power BI because it is AppSource-certified, open-source, and actively maintained, so the risk of deprecation is very low. It allows full control over axes, gridlines, and design using Vega/Vega-Lite, which native visuals cannot match. The main limitations are a steeper learning curve (JSON coding), limited end-user interactivity/customization, and possible performance impact on large datasets. Best practice is to use Deneb for complex/custom visuals and keep standard reporting visuals native for stability.
