Upload files from Sharepoint using Power Automate
Hi all,
This is my first time using Power Automate and have been given the task of appending a number of files in a sharepoint folder so that they can create a dataset within Power BI, with the possibility of this being updated on a monthly basis when a new file is dropped in.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

You don’t need Power Automate to append files manually.
Power BI can automatically combine all files inside a SharePoint folder and refresh whenever a new file is added.Use “SharePoint Folder” connector in Power BI
- In Power BI Desktop >> Get Data >> SharePoint Folder
- Paste your SharePoint site URL (not the folder URL)
- Power BI will list all files >> filter to your folder
- Use Combine & Transform
- Publish to Power BI Service
- Set up scheduled refresh
Now, every time a new file is dropped into the SharePoint folder, Power BI automatically appends it to your dataset.

Steps in Power Automate
- Trigger:
- Connector: SharePoint
- Action: “When a file is created in a folder”
- Configure the correct folder path.
- Action:
- Connector: Power BI
- Action: “Refresh a dataset”
- Select the Workspace and Dataset.
