Hello!
I have a monthly report I build in PowerBI desktop and need to upload to PowerBI web version but I want to upload it to the same link so folks with access to the web link will just see the updated version every month. I see how to publish a new version from my desktop, but how can I just update my existing web dashboard with a new dashboard?
Thanks!

Hi @env25,
if your concern is not about the data, where a possible solution is outline by @amitchandak I can tell you there is no need to update a link once you published your report from desktop to service.
Even if you pisblish the report to the web you don't need to update the link.
The only thing you should care is if you put your report into a Power BI app. Then you need to update the app to see the changes reflected there.
better solution if you want to avoid the update pain with the app is to go for the preview feature item "Org App". There the update takes place automatically.
Best regards!

Hi @env25,
You can simply name the updated pbix with same name as in web (Power BI Service Workspace) and publish to same workspace. Power BI Desktop will prompt if you want to replace the existing dashboard where you will have to click on "Replace". It's as simple as that.

@amitchandak Thank you! I think there are complexities involved with our VPN and refreshing that I'm not sure a scheduled refresh will work yet, but for now do you know how I can just manually pull an updated desktop version into an existing web link?
@env25 , You have to schedule a refresh on the service. If the data is on-premise you need on-premise gateway to refresh data on the service
