Advocate IIUpdate reports in Power BI Services
Hi.. guys,
I have 3 questions.
1. I have prepared report in desktop and published in to services. After some days I will change visulas,it will automatically reflect in the reports that are already available in PBI service? or else need to republish it.
2. Automatic refresh and maual referesh are useful only data updation that are availale in the data set?
3. While republishing the reports in to workspace it is not asking to repalce the existing report in the workspace. Becoz of this whenever I republish the report in to PBI services(Cloud), there are showing old and new reports. What is the solution? do we manually delete the old reports from workspace?

Hello! If you click the Publish button within Power BI to publish, you will have to always do it this way anytime you make a change to your desktop file. I suggest the follwoing:
- Save your report in SharePoint
- Go to Power BI service and navigate to the workspace you want to publish in
- Click Upload
- Select Sharepoint
- Navigate to the SharePoint where your file is stored
- Navigate to the file
- Click connect
- If your report is a separate file from your dataset (best practice), you are all set; if it is not, click the three dots on the dataset, go to settings and navigate to OneDrive Refresh and make sure that the toggle switch is on
When you publish to service in the above way then make changes to the desktop file you have stored in SharePoint, the changes will automatically sync to service.
You can refresh in other ways - for example, you can set a trigger in Power Automate that will start a refresh, or if you have a data ingestion pipeline to get data into a datawarehouse, you could have a refresh in Power BI kick off once your table in a data warehouse is completed with it's update.
For question 3, I am assuming you are using the Publish button in Power BI - As long as the report has the same name and is connected to the same dataset you should be getting the message to replace. Otherwise, something must be different, but I suggest not using the publish button.
