Update Client List by Deleting Old Members and Identifying New One

My boss gave has asked me to update the personnel directory. I need to mark old members as "separated".  I have tried merging/appending the queries but I can't seem to get them to connect correctly. I tried assigning them IDs as well. How can I identify which ones have left the company and need to be changed to separated? Old DirectoryCurrent Directory

You could concatenate the first and last name and use that as a unique ID but people get married and change names so not the best soloution.
