Union based on filter

You just need an extra step
New Table = CALCULATETABLE( DISTINCT ( UNION ( DISTINCT ( 'Table 1'[Account Number] ), DISTINCT ( 'Table 2'[Account Number] ) ) ), 'Calendar'[Date] > DATE(2018, 12, 31) )Regards,

New Table =
CALCULATETABLE(
DISTINCT (
UNION (
DISTINCT ( 'Table 1'[Account Number] ),
DISTINCT ( 'Table 2'[Account Number] )
)
),
'Calendar'[Date] > DATE(2018, 12, 31)
