Unable to select Field Parameters
Hi! I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's going on with my Field Parameters. The issue is that I have a slicer that has uses the Field Parameter's values, and it works for 1 Type but when I switch it to the other, it won't allow me to check a box in the slicer.
Here's the sample setup I created:
- Parameter has 2 "Types" called North America and Asia
- 2 columns in the table, State and City, are labeled as "North America". A 3rd column, City, is labeled as "Asia"
- Slicer 1 has the fields, Slicer 2 has the values
I'm able to select multiple cities without any issues when Type is set to "Asia", but when I switch to "North America", it displays all the values but when I click on a State, it automatically deselects.

After playing with it for a bit, it looks like the slicer doesn't fully refresh when I switch over (bug?). Here's how to recreate the issue.
Steps: Click "Asia", select multiple cities. Switch to "North America" and the list still shows Cities only (you can select any value and it will display in the table, but the slicer will immediately deselect). Clicking the down arrow next to any of the listed values refreshes the slicer and will allow you to select.
Interesting, and good use of the parameters.
Something you can consider is to have 3 columns, Country, State and City, but in the State column, for every Asian city, you just have "Asia" as the state.
Then you don't need parameters. You can have Country (Asia vs. N America) filter on the State/City slicer. You will have "Asia" as the top drop down, but if you leave it expanded it should do what you are hoping to do.

instead of assigning your field parameter "Dynamic Selection" to the "State, City" Slicer, you should simply assign State and City to the "State, City" Slicer. That worked for me:

Interesting, and good use of the parameters.

The actual data set I'm using has the first level as blank/null for option 1 because they have different hierarchies, so I was hoping to hide the first level just to make it look a bit cleaner. I'll go with your suggestion of expanding the list by default to display the next level (and prevent users from panicking 😅)
