Unable to refresh: owner restriction

Power BI community,

I have a refresh error in Power BI.

Below is the error message.

This owner restriction is preventing Power BI to automatically refresh the report.

How can I remove the restriction?

Hi @hidenseek9 -Ensure that you are the owner of the dataset. Only the owner or a Power BI administrator can modify these restrictions. If you’re not the owner, reach out to the current owner to either take over the dataset or grant you permissions.

  • Check Dataset Permissions:

    • Go to the Power BI Service (app.powerbi.com).
    • Navigate to the Workspace where the dataset resides.
    • Click on the Datasets + Dataflows tab.
    • Locate the dataset causing the issue and click the ellipsis (...) next to it.
    • Select Settings from the dropdown menu.

  • In the dataset settings, scroll down to the Scheduled Refresh section.
  • Look for the Dataset owner settings and take over ownership if needed (you’ll see an option if you're not the owner).
  • Once you are the owner, you can modify the refresh schedule, and automatic refreshes will be allowed.

Under Settings > Scheduled Refresh, you can check the Refresh History to review more detailed error messages that might help further troubleshooting.

Hope the above steps and process helps to resolve the issue.

Can you add some screenshots?

I cannot find "Datasets + Dataflows" tab on step 3.
