Unable to publish to workspace from Desktop

A strange one, I have a Pro license and up until last week I was able to publish to multiple workspaces where I am an Admin just fine, however since yesterday I keep getting an error "Sorry, you don't have access to publish to this workspace. Please contact the owner for access".

I've tried to publish to my own workspace too but get the same message. I've tried reinstalling Power BI desktop (July 2025 build) and also signing out and back in my MS account with no luck.

Anyone else had this issue?

FYI this has been resolved - turned out to be internal firewall issues blocking PBI Desktop from accessing the PBI Service.

Thanks for the help/suggestions.

Hi @nh27

First, create a brand-new workspace and see if you can publish there, If that fails, attempt publishing from a different device or network to rule out local issues.

Also, double-check your Pro license status and clear cached credentials in Power BI Desktop by signing out and back in.

Did it work 👍 A kudos would be appreciated ‌‌📢 Mark it as a solution to help spreading knowledge

Hi, I've tried this too but still no luck.

Whenever my colleagues try sign into PBI Desktop from my machine and publish they also get the error, but from their own machine it works, same when I login to their machine.

Same user account logged into desktop. I am the one who created the workspace so I am Admin.

I'm not experiencing this issue but some things to check would be:

-What user account are you logged into desktop with?  Make sure it's the one that is connected to your org so it can read your credentials

-Check the security permissions of your user on your workspaces.

Those are the two main components to make sure you are authentication correctly to publish to workspaces you have been granted access to.  Hope this helps.
