I am unable to perform second level drill down in Matrix chart after I am publishing it to Power Bi dashboard to Power BI apps
The drill down works fine in both desktop and in Power BI service only after I click on the UPDATE APP option I am unable to perform the drill down
Example
In matrix chart I have Requsetor, Vendor, Problem category in Row
I want to drill down from Requestor --> Vendor --> Problem category Here Requestor --> Vendor I am able to see the breakdown when I select the Vendor, the Problem Category breakdown is not shown
Hi @Valarmathi,
Based on your description, we did some testing and when you want to do a drill down operation either as a pin live form or in the app, your audience page must contain your report page. Refer to the example belowBased on your description, we did some testing and when you want to do a drill down operation either as a pin live form or in the app, your audience page must contain your report page. Refer to the example below
First we place the entire page live in the dashboard as pin live (first tile) and then pin individual visual objects to the dashboard (second tile)
Performance in apps without raw reports
Cannot see the first tile and the second tile does not expand to the second level.
App display with original report page
When the first tile is displayed and the second tile is expanded, it points to the original report page.
Also the official documentation page states the prerequisites for implementing drill-down in the app

Hey there!
After publishing the report and clicking "Update App", ensure that the dataset and reports are correctly refreshed.
Sometimes, app-level permissions can block drill-down functionality. Try this :
- Go to Power BI Service → Apps → Permissions.
- Check if users have "Build" permission (required for full interactivity).
- Remove and re-add the dataset in the workspace and re-publish the app.
Also you should verify Drill-Down Settings in Power BI Service
Re-enable drill-down manually in Power BI Service:
- Open the report in Power BI Service.
- Click on the matrix visual.
- Check if the drill-down button (double arrow icon) is enabled.
- If disabled, enable "Drill Down" by clicking on it.
Finally, check your hierchary: In Power BI Desktop, check the matrix visual:
- Ensure all hierarchy levels (Requestor → Vendor → Problem Category) are correctly ordered.
- Try reordering the fields in the matrix Rows section.
Hope this helps!
