Unable to make the connection to Azure Synapse Analytics from PBI desktop

Hello Everyone,

I'm unable to make the connection to Azure Synapse Analytics from my PBI desktop but my team members are able to connect from their PBI desktop.

I was able to connect earlier but after clearling permissions from data source settings and when I try to reconnect again, it is connecting to the workspace but at the next step starts throwing the following error:

We encountered an error while trying to connect.

Details: "Microsoft SQL: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"

To triage the issue,
1. Tried making the same connection from another laptop/desktop and was able to successfully connect and see db objects.
2. Uninstalled and deleted folder C:\Users\\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop Store App. Reinstalled PBI Desktop by downloading from App Store
3. Tried making the connection again using Azure Synapse Analytics connector but it FAILED again

Any idea or suggestion how i can resolve this issue?

After disabling Apps and Browser control under Windows Defender, I'm able to connect to Synapse.

Hi Amit,

Thanks for responding. 

I've checked both links and they are not related to the issue which I'm facing. As i said, i got two laptops both on same network and same version of PBI Desktop. With one i can connect to the Anuzre Snyapse but not with another.
