Unable to determine the object clicked on

Hi. In previous versions, when i clicked on an object on the report, I could determine what kind it was since on the visualization palette, the object was highlighted (click on a matrix, the matrix visual was highlighted in the palette.

Now using PBI with the latest updates, when I click on an object, the palette disappears and I can't tell what it was. This isn't an issue with most objects,  but I recently got a hold of a custom report with objects pulled in from the visualization marketplace. So now when I click on the object, i can't always tell what it is.  And a few of the objects have alot of properties that I need to investigate.

How do i keep the palette on screen at all times? As soon as i click on an object on the report, the palette disappears.

  • Hey Anonymous. Are you familiar with the Selection pane that you can access via View (in the ribbon ) > Selection? For me that's usually the best way to select objects if there's a lot going on on the canvas, or if things start getting a little weird as you described.

HI thanks for that. Maybe something was changed, because wasn't there a time where you clicked on the object and the visualizaton on the screen stayed on the screen?

unfortunately i no longer see it there. Which in most cases it's easy to determine what it is, but i was looking to but now i can't change the object from a table to a chart, vice versa, etc...
Previously i could click on an alternate visual and change it on the fly.

Hi Anonymous. I haven't really experienced the visualization pallette disappearing. May just be something funky with those custom visuals.

Sorry I can't help. Maybe someone else who has experienced this can weigh in.
