Unable to connect to SSAS cube from Virtual Machine (VDI)

Hi all,

We have a VDI in place where we have PowerBI Desktop installed. However, when trying to connect to a SSAS server, we get an unable to connect error:  "Looks like the we're unable to access the dataset. Please contact the owner of the dataset."

However, we can access the same SSAS data with a local desktop using PowerBI. We can also view the cube data when connection to the SSAS server using SQL Server Management Studio 18, so the SSAS server is online and working.

The error is in Dutch unfortunately, but I have an option 'Edit' in the middle. When choosing this option in PowerBI on the VM, I CAN see the instance and cubes. But when I choose one, it will keep loading indefinitively. The same goes for accessing the SSAS cube with Excel and Visual Studios.

Does anyone have an idea where the problem may lie? It isn't security rules in SSAS, since users can access the data from their local PowerBI Desktop, all with Windows Authentication.  Thank you very much in advance.

Hi @Anonymous ,

You could try Basic Authentication and check if the issure exists.

Or you could connect to local SSAS and check if the connection works properly.
