Unable to connect to SQL server

Hi All,

 

Does any one here who have similar experience when connecting to a SQL server? my credential seems correct but i keep on getting this prompt. Thanks in advanced for your attention and help!

Note: this works when i use MS Excel but i didn't in Power BI

Hi @jeje09 

 

Please check the following possible solutions:

1. Make sure that the server name entered in Power BI exactly matches the name on the SQL Server certificate.

2. Check encrypted connection configuration. Please refer to:

Configure SQL Server Database Engine for encryption - SQL Server | Microsoft Learn

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/sql-server#limitations 

3. Try to use an unencrypted connection: Click File > Options and Settings > Data Source Settings.

Select the SQL Server data source you want to modify and click “Edit Permissions”. Uncheck Encrypt connections.

Check you SQL Server DNS Set up, it more a network related issue
