Unable to Use Paste Option in Slicer Visual

Hi Team,

I hope you are doing well.

I selected a slicer visual and copied some values from Excel to filter them. However, when I right-click on the slicer visual, the
Paste option appears to be disabled, though it should normally be enabled.

Could you please help me understand how to enable this option?

Please find the attached image for your reference.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Vali

  • Hi VannurVali ,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

For the Paste option to work in Power BI Desktop when copying values from sources such as Excel or Notepad, a permission prompt may appear when you copied some values and open Power BI Desktop.

A pop up similar to the one shown below will appear, asking for permission to access the clipboard. You need to click Allow for the Paste functionality to work.

If this prompt was missed earlier, the permission can still be enabled manually through Microsoft Edge site settings. You can open the site permission page directly using the following URL:

    edge://settings/privacy/sitePermissions/allSites/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fms-pbi.pbi.microsoft.com

On this page, locate the Clipboard permission and change it to Allow, as shown below.

After updating this setting, the Paste option in Power BI Desktop should become available. It may take a few moments for the change to take effect.

Hope this helps. Please reach out for further assistance.
    Thank you.

  • Hi VannurVali ,

The Paste option being disabled is expected behavior in Power BI. It is not a bug. It should work accordingly
You can simply copy the values and paste it.

      Hi grazitti_sapna,

      Thanks for the quick response.

This feature is working on my colleague’s laptop with the same report, but it is not showing on mine. I also tried reinstalling it, but it’s still not working.

      Thanks!

  • Hi VannurVali

From either Excel or notepad, copy the values in a single column then click paste from the slicer options.

      Hi VannurVali ,

Just wanted to check if the response provided was helpful. If further assistance is needed, please reach out.

Additionally if you want to attach pbix file without any sensitive data, you could do that by uploading your file to any cloud storage like OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive or Wetransfer for example and paste the link to that storage location in the post.
