I'd like to create a new connection to Salesforce Objects and add it as a parameter to use in a data source.
In my new pbix, I click Get data > More > type Salesforce > select Salesforce Objects > Connect. I click on Production and select the contact object and click load. At some point, I was prompted to login to my custom Salesforce domain. Now, whenever I go back to PBI Desktop, I don't get prompted to login to Salesforce when going through the steps I described. I have no idea why it doesn't ask me to login again.
Next, I want to add the connection as a parameter.
New Source > More > Salesforce Objects > Connect. I click on Custom, select Parameter from the first dropdown, and Salesforce from the dropdown to the right of that. The Salesforce parameter has the type set to text, required is checked. The current value is https://middlebury.my.salesforce.com
After clicking OK, I see a message that says -
Unable to connect. We encountered an error while trying to connect. Details: "Uri 'SalesforceOrg' isn't a supported Salesforce.com login URI."
How do I get around this error message? Thank you for any help!
Hi, @MikeSchuster ;
MS PBI uses IE11 for authentication and SFDC lightening has stopped supporting IE11.
Make sure you are using PBI Desktop downloaded from the MS Download Center and NOT the MS Store App
In Registry Editor location\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION from decimal 11000 to 7000.

Hi,
Are you saying that changing the decimal value in the machine's registry where PBI Desktop is installed is the solution? Doing that would allow me to create the parameter?
Thank You,
Mike
