Unable to Connect to MySQL Database in Power BI – Connector Error Despite Multiple Attempts
- 1 year ago
uninstall everything, then install the .Net driver 8.0.28 64 bit
Hi Ibendlin,
Thank you for your earlier suggestion to uninstall and reinstall the MySQL Connector/NET 8.0.28 (64-bit). I followed the steps meticulously: uninstalled all related components, installed the specified .NET driver version, and restarted my PC. Despite these efforts, I'm still encountering the same connector error when attempting to connect Power BI to my MySQL database.
I've also ensured that the MySQL service is running and can connect using MySQL Workbench without issues. However, Power BI continues to prompt for the connector installation or fails to establish the connection.
Could you please advise on any additional steps or configurations that might resolve this persistent issue?
Best regards,

Hi Sreethar,
If you have Power BI from Microsoft Store, uninstall it. Instead, download and install Power BI Desktop from below link
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58494The Microsoft Store version does not detect external .NET drivers properly.

MySQL Connector Issue with Power BI
Hi Vinay,
As advised, I’ve uninstalled the Microsoft Store version of Power BI and installed the recommended version from the official Microsoft link you shared. I also ensured that the MySQL Connector Net 8.0.28 is correctly installed, as per the guidance from the Fabric community.
Despite following all the steps, I’m still encountering the same issue when attempting to connect to a MySQL database in Power BI. The error indicates that additional components are required. Please find the relevant screenshots attached for your reference:
Installed version of MySQL Connector 8.0.28
Power BI installation (from official .exe)

I would appreciate your further guidance on resolving this.
