Unable to Connect Power BI Desktop to OneLake Data Hub in Microsoft Fabric Trial Account

Hi All,

I’ve created a trial version of a Microsoft Fabric account and set up my own sandbox environment. However, I’m having trouble connecting Power BI Desktop to the OneLake Data Hub. I’ve followed the steps to connect, but I’m unable to establish a successful connection.

Here are the key details:

  • Account: Microsoft Fabric Trial
  • Data Hub: OneLake
  • Power BI Desktop Version: Latest (I’ve checked for updates)
  • Error/Issue: I’m unable to connect Power BI Desktop to OneLake for data access.

Has anyone encountered this issue or have any suggestions for resolving it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @mramesh -Connecting Power BI Desktop to the OneLake Data Hub in Microsoft Fabric can sometimes run into issues, especially with trial versions (Lke example slowness)

When setting up the connection to OneLake, double-check the URL or path you’re using. Make sure it matches exactly as specified in your OneLake Data Hub documentation or setup instructions.
If there’s an organization-specific URL, verify with your admin or documentation that you’re using the correct link for the data hub.

In the OneLake Data Hub, check if your user account has the necessary permissions to access the data. You might need read or data access permissions, which sometimes need to be explicitly granted.

Hope the above details helps.
