USA Counties on map filled with boundaries and names

Hey guys,

I am new to Power BI. I have the following case:

Plotting all the counties under each manager. Each county should be filled along with the boundaries and names.

For Example:

Manager A is managing 10 counties. When I select A in my filter(Slicer), the map should plot these 10 counties with colors and they should have boundary lines to differentiate the counties. Also, each county name should be displayed in the map.

Can this be possible to do in Power BI ? Please find the below example of the result.

I have tried using all the available maps including ARC GIS, but couldn't able to find a solution for this.  Could you guys please help?

Thanks in advance.

@Anonymous,

You may use the filled map.

Same here. I want to be able to drill down as well as use a slicer to target only the counties that are linked to my slicer.

Sadly, I have not. We know that four colors are required to create a filled map such that no two adjacent polygons have the same color. If someone had created such a color palette for counties, that would eliminate the need for outlines, however I have not seen anything like that.

This solution does not address two points in the original post:

  • Outlining county polygons
  • Labeling county polygons

I am trying to create a map that displays a set of counties in such a way that they are clearly differentiated from their neighboring counties. I have tried generating a random number and using a gradient fill a middle color, but through random chance alone there are always some adjacent counties with similar colors. Outlining the counties and/or labeling would solve that problem, but these don't seem to be options in Power BI.

Did you find a solution for this? We are also looking for ways to highlight boundaries of Counties.
