Turn on Copilot in Power BI
Nice day!!
I'm trying to turn on Copilot so that queries can be made about the reports.
The problem I have is that the option is disabled with the following message:
- My current license is Premium Per User (PPU)
- My area of work is PPU
- My region is South-Central US (Texas)
- In the administration portal is enabled
What else do I lack? Investigating I see that the Premium Per User license is not enough and that the Power Bi Premium License is necessary, but when I look for this license to buy it it does not appear.
Thank you very much!

Hi Syndicate_Admin,
Thanks for followup
If your company takes an F64 capacity, it will be available at the tenant level. Any workspace that you assign to this capacity will support Copilot, and users with Power BI Pro licenses can use it there.
If you only have Premium Per User (PPU) and no F64 or P1 capacity in the tenant, Copilot will not work.
So yes, to enable Copilot in Power BI, having an F64 or P1 and above Premium capacity is required. Once that is in place, Pro users will be able to use Copilot in the workspaces assigned to that capacity. It would be good to check with your Microsoft 365 admin or licensing partner on how to get the right capacity for your tenant.

Hello! To have copilot in Power Bi you will need to have an F64 or above. Here are instructions for purchasing. I recommend the reservation since it is significantly less than pay as you go. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/enterprise/buy-subscription#buy-an-azure-sku

Hi Syndicate_Admin,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum. From the details you shared, Copilot in Power BI right now works only in workspaces that are on Premium capacity like F-series Fabric capacity or P-series Power BI Premium. It doesn’t work in Premium Per User (PPU) workspaces.
Premium capacity isn’t something you can buy as an individual license, so it won’t show up in your account. It’s purchased at the organization level through the Microsoft 365 admin center or with help from your Microsoft licensing partner.
Since you already have Copilot enabled in the admin portal, you will just need to move your workspace to Premium capacity to use it. You can check with your Microsoft 365 admin or licensing team to see if your organization can get a Premium capacity SKU.
Hope this helps if you have any queries we are happy to assist you further.

Hello!!
I have a tenant with an @softech-ti.com domain and users with Power BI Pro licenses. I'm evaluating hiring Fabric Capacity F64 primarily to enable Copilot in Power BI.
My doubts are:
If I purchase an F64 capacity, is it available to the entire tenant and can users with Power BI Pro use Copilot as long as their workspaces are assigned to that capacity?
If a user only has Premium Per User (PPU) but there is no F64 or P1 capability in the tenant, can they use Copilot? Or is Premium capacity (F64/P1 or higher) necessarily required?
In short: is the F64 mandatory to enable Copilot, and then with Pro licenses is enough for users to use it?
Thank you in advance!
