Trying to get total balance

Hi PowerBI community,

I'm relatively new to PowerBI and have been working through some exercises to get familiar with the tool. I started with Bank example In that process , while selecting balance into value field its showing first , last , count(Distinct) And count instead of total balance . 

Any insights or guidance on resolving these  problems would be greatly appreciated.

Hi  @Gurjeet
This happens because the data type of the balance is not a number.It seems that you should fix it from PQ 
In the first step replace a $ sign with nothing

And then change the data type to the number:

press "close and apply"

If you want to format the number as a currency, format the column from the model view

Then you will have an option to summarize
