Trouble with simple DAX MAX for a group formula

I am trying to get this simple formula to calculate a Max based off of another column:

WellMax = CALCULATE(MAX([Depth],FILTER(Table,[Well]=EARLIER([Well]))))

When I get to the EARLIER function, it does not show the list of columns to select from so I am just typing it in.

When I resolve the formula I get the following message:
The value for 'Depth' cannot be determined. Either 'Depth' doesn't exist, or there is no current row for a column named 'Depth'

This is a calculated column, btw.

Seems to be working fine now.  I tried again later and just typed the formula from scratch and it allowed me to select from columns when I got to EARLIER.  Thanks
