Translate Text in PowerBI (source is Bigquery)

Hello,

We have setup a PowerBI dashboard that pulls data from our Bigquery database. Some of the data is in languages other than English, and we would like to show the English translation of that data too.

The data is in common languages such as Spanish, French, German and Italian.

Wondering what would be the best way to get the translation done:

1. Checked whether it can be done in Bigquery itself, but doesn't seem possible

2. Can it be done on the way from Bigquery -> PowerBI? (via some script for example)

3. Can it be done once it is in PowerBI itself?

Thanks for pointing me to the right direction!

V.

Hi @varunj ,

You can try using power query to call Google translation API or first translate in Bigquery.

Hi Liang, thanks for the answer.

Just to confirm - this can be done in PowerBI too, right? Because the tutorial is based off Excel. If you have any tutorials that you can suggest for bridging PowerBI - Power Query, that'd be great.

Also, would you have any specific suggestions around translating in Bigquery? That would be the preference.

Thanks!

Varun

Hi @varunj ,

Yes, you can do it in PowerBI too.

Unfortunately, I have little experience with bigquery.

See if this will help:
