Too many values error in map

Hi,

I'm building a map report with simple ABC classification of customers. PowerBI is not used for Geocoding, the geolocation data are available in the dataset so it is just drawing these.... However, I now hit the "Too many values" error and apparently not all data are shown.

There are about 3600 customers in total where majority falls into C category... If I only display AB (invstatus 2/3) the error goes away... but it shows up on C category alone (approx 2700 records) and when showin all ofcourse...

Is there some way to force all records to be drawn?

Thansk for all ideas!

pinky - Unfortunately, I am not aware of any way to superscede the default limits of certain visualizations like maps. I'm sure it is already an Idea, but you could create it if not or vote for it if one already exists.

Yah, but what excatly is the limit Greg_Deckler? I did not find it anywhere but another thread here where someone experienced this and assumed it is only displaying around 1000 data points. (http://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Maps-Number-of-points-limited-at-1000/td-p/7599)

I undertsand that when data are to be geocoded on the fly, it needs to be limited somehow, but working with a datasat where geolocation data are already stored, this seem to be unreasonable limitation.

No way to force all into the report? Anyone?

If you are looking to display where your customers mostly are (and not individual customers), you can try the filled map and use color intensities together with counts.

Unfortunately the inteded result is pinpoint location of the customer with visual representation of the ABC status to serve as tool for field sales to plan their visits in the area... so no, filled map won't do.

I'd rather make this work in Power Bi than code specifically using google/Bing Map api... but seems we hit the roof here :smileysad:

pinky - I haven't ever tried to pin down the exact limits on the visuals and I know of no documentation that specifies the exact limit, the impression that I get is that it is somewhat situational. Also, map visuals are not the only ones that do this so I do not think it is necessarily tied to geocoding. Pie charts and other visuals also exhibit this behavior.

    Hello, All,

We are also facing the same issue.

It could be great to see if Power BI classic Map have overcome the limitation of volume of records which idenifies as bubble or circle. We have 1.24 million Postal codes records to show on map.

We understand that we need to have filter and other dimension but our client want to see all of this dots as a seperate colors based on Individual company (9 in numbers).

    Please advise.
