Too many measures

Hello everyone,

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read my question. I am quite new to PBI.

I was designing a Company Profit and Loss dashboard with 10 pages. Each page has about 20 line items and for each item I have about 20 columns. So for each page I am making 20x20 = 400 measures.

By the end of the dashboard, I have about 4k measures.

The database has about 7 million rows between two views, and yes the report takes about 1 min load when I move to different tabs.

My question is, is this how it should be done or if there is any clever way to create those measures. I have attached a screenshot to explain the question clearly.

Thanks to all of you, without end.

The data is coming from two different views in the DB.
Each measure is aggregating values based on conditions.

How would an expert do it otherwise please?
If you take the example for just one page and not 10 pages, that is still about 400 measures on one page. How it should be done!
I do not see how I can reduce them using 'Calculation Group' since each row has different logic.

  • Anonymous I would recommend getting yourself with the basics of Power BI, it is very hard to answer such open-ended questions.
