Timeline Custom Visuals
Hello,
I downloaded the latest version of Timeline custom visual from store (Timeline.1.6.1.0). After importing the Timeline visual, When i tried to use i am getting the error message
"Your version of Power BI desktop does not support this custom visual. Please update Power BI desktop to the latest version.
I have download and install the latest version of Power BI desktop (on-Prem version).

So you're talking about Power BI On-Premises Reporting. I have made a misunderstanding as you are talking about On-Premise gateway. Sorry for that.
For current Power BI Report Server, it has its own corresponding Power BI desktop as Power BI Desktop optimized for Power BI Report Server which version is October 2017. Then comes the issue. Using a custom visual is based on the version of desktop. And obviously this Oct 2017 version desktop doesn't support Timeline custom visual. So if you want to use Timeline, you need to use newer version desktop. That's the error means.
However, since current Power BI Report Server is using Oct 2017 desktop and Oct 2017 desktop doesn't support Timeline Custom Visual. I'm afread Power BI Report Server also doesn't support Timeline Custom Visual.
Thereby, I would suggest you to contact custom visual team ([email protected]). To ask for an older version of Timeline visual which can be used in Oct 2017 desktop. Or some other workarounds.
By the way, since this is a forum which is talking about Power BI Desktop. And your issue is more related to Power BI Report Server. So if you have more problems with report server, please post your issue to report server forum.

As the error told you, please update your Power BI desktop version. And its latest version is Feb 2018.

Xi Jin.I am using the Power BI On-Prem version. Was there any latest Power BI desktop version for On-Prem version? Will the Feb version of power BI desktop supports On- Prem?

Sorry for delay.
Power BI On-Prem has nothing to do with Power BI desktop. One is getway and one is client. For your error, you need to update the version of Power BI desktop.

I'm having the same issue. I'm using the Power BI desktop version (October 2017) which is supposed to optimized for the Power BI Server. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56136
