    Hj Parchitect 

     

    Clearing cache didn't work for me.

     

    I think I fixed by turning going into the Microsoft Edge browser settings and turning off popups, then set it to recommend.

    I spoke to the Microsoft Business Team. 
     
    They say ​this error is caused by a recent Windows Defender update bug.
     
    The bug prevents the semantic mode "Edit in Desktop" option from the Fabric Power BI Service.
     
    The bug won't be fixed until late July 2026.
     
    There is this workaround solution ...
     
    •  Start Power BI Desktop
    • Click OneLake catalog
    • Click the semantic model you want to edit
    • Click, the Connect drop down menu
    • Click Edit
     
     
    I am accepting this as the solution.

Hi speedramps,

I can also reproduce a similar issue when using Edit in Power BI Desktop from the Power BI Service.

 

Since we can still edit the semantic model in the Power BI Service, this does not look like the semantic model itself is broken. The issue seems more related to the browser / WebView2 / authentication launch flow used when the Service opens Power BI Desktop.

 

I want someone to verify on their personal computer if they have their own private tenant and can Edit in Desktop, so we can see if its related to above i mentioned. Why i want on their personal tenant, its because it may be organizational settings disrupting.
