Hi All. I have worked on Tableau for a while but my company is migrating to Power BI and i am new to the enviroment. My question is, i have calculated field (below)
if sum([Total Value]) >=0
and sum([Total Value]) < 250000
then 'Under $250'
ELSEIF
sum([Total Value]) >= 250000
AND sum([Total Value]) <= 5000000
THEN '$250k and $5M'
ELSEIF
sum([Total Value]) > 5000000
AND sum([Total Value]) <= 10000000
THEN '$5M to $10M'
ELSE 'Over $10M' end
and i tried the below DAX and it is not working
@my2girls I would do something like:
New Column or Measure =
VAR __Sum = SUM('Table'[Total Value])
RETURN
SWITCH(TRUE(),
__Sum >=0 && __Sum < 250000, "Under $250",
__Sum >= 250000 && __Sum <= 5000000, "$250K and $5M",
__Sum >= 5000000 && __Sum <= 10000000, "$5M to $10M",
"Over $10M"
)
Hi Greg. Thanks for the fast response. But the formula just gives me only 10M. Screen shot below. sorry to bother.
@my2girls Well, it's a card visual so it's going to be based on everything in the table then. Typically you would use a measure within something like a table visual where you would have some other column involved that segments the data.
Sorry, having trouble following, can you post sample data as text and expected output?
Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
