Table visual not filtering Date Slicer

We have a report that has a table visual of bookings by week.  What I need to do is be able to click on one of those weeks in the table visual and see if it can change the date range in the date slic...

It's not really expected (or desired) in IT in general.  The date slicer is the dimension you want to slice and dice the facts in the table.  It's not really workable for the table to filter the slicer which filters the table etc.
