Table Displaying Market Share and Growth for Multiple Time Periods

Hi,

I want to create a table/matrix visualisation which displays multiple rolling time periods for sales growth and market share, side by side, as per per screenshot.

Assuming I have all these periods in my calendar table, what is the best way to go about doing this?

Thanks

  • Power BI does not like this type of presentation. You will have to go full custom matrix on this, with separate measures for each of the elements.

Rethink your requirement and use multiple visuals (for example).

OK, thanks Ibendlin. Got the MS part of the table without too much difficulty, but growth table seems to be a challenge alright.

  • Hi JoePeeps

There are a number of ways to do this:

    • use of the DAX time intelligence functions - link here
    • Personally I prefer to use period offsets. This will require further columns in the date table to identify the offset number. The result will be that current month will be 0, last month -1, 2 months agos -2, next month +1 etc. Then similar logic for quarters, half years and years.
link here for a Power Query script to generate a date table with this included.

Once this is in place it's fairly straight forward to write the DAX usign the offset numbers.
