Synoptic Panel SVG Not Showing Data
Hello,
I have a old Synoptic Panel SVG of a human body that i use to show some muscles injuries and it works fine. Last days i made some changes in SVG Panel, adding some new body parts but it does not work. Any changes or news rules in Synoptic Design platform building the SVG or even in Synoptic Panel by OKViz elements that may justify that?

Hi
If your newly edited SVG isn’t displaying data in Synoptic Panel while the old version worked fine, here are the most likely causes based on the latest OKVIZ documentation (updated ~March‑April 2025):1. Broken ID-based binding due to Auto IdsIf your original SVG didn’t provide explicit
<id> attributes, Synoptic Panel auto-generated them. When you added or reordered shapes in the new SVG (without explicit IDs), these auto‑assigned IDs likely changed — breaking the automatic binding to your data Microsoft Fabric Community+15docs.okviz.com+15docs.okviz.com+15.✅ Fix: Manually assign unique
id attributes to each area that exactly match your data category values. This ensures consistency across SVG revisions docs.okviz.comdocs.okviz.comdocs.okviz.com.Data‑binding requires consistent IDs or data‑okviz‑strong

Synoptic Panel binds data through exact (case‑insensitive) matching between data values and SVG
ids (ignoring leading/trailing spaces and a leading underscore if followed by a number) GitHub+15docs.okviz.com+15docs.okviz.com+15.If automatic match isn’t reliable, use
data-okviz-strong="YourDataValue" on your SVG elements or groups to force binding manually docs.okviz.com+2docs.okviz.com+2docs.okviz.com+2.SVG structure or layering changed
OKVIZ’s best practices recommend:
-
Keeping layer names unique (since those become
ids) -
Saving styles inline
-
Avoid duplicating or overlapping group hierarchy that might confuse the auto binding logic Microsoft Fabric Community+13docs.okviz.com+13docs.okviz.com+13docs.okviz.com.
Changes to layer order, grouping, or use of classes instead of inline styles may cause previously working maps to fail.
Missing or null Measure field
In Synoptic Panel, every bound area must correspond to a category and there must be a measure/value field provided. If some category values have nulls or the measure column is not uniformly populated, those areas might appear black or not bind at all synoptic.design+15Microsoft Fabric Community+15docs.okviz.com+15.
Recommended Next Steps:
-
Open your SVG in a text editor or Inkscape and manually add stable
<id> values on all relevant areas. -
Make sure your binding logic (
Category column) matches those IDs or usedata-okviz-strong. -
Re-import into Synoptic Panel using the “replace map” functionality so OKVIZ can keep existing binding if IDs remain consistent docs.okviz.com.

-
Confirm that your measure field is properly populated in Power BI.

Thanks johnbasha33 for your tips! I paid attention to the newly edited SVG and changed the IDs of each area in Inkscape, removing the spaces (e.g., Left Hamstring → LeftHamstring). I also properly edited the measures in Power BI, and everything is working well now. I believe some recent changes in the Synoptic Design platform may have caused these errors.
