    I tried with double "==" and worked!

     

    'Append (Sludge)'[Result]==BLANK(),BLANK(),

Not sure if this will work, but try ISBLANK(Append [Result], BLANK(), 

in the first line of the SWITCH function (instead of the expression Append [Result] = BLANK(), BLANK() )
