what's new in my prob is that if i selected January and March i want the sum sales of january plus mars excluding february, i know that sameperiodlastyear cause an error if selected date are non contiguous.

Make sure you have date calendar and use trailing period
Year behind Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Year))
this will respond to the selection.
To get the best of the time intelligence function. Make sure you have a date calendar and it has been marked as the date in model view. Also, join it with the date column of your fact/s. Refer :
