Hi, I have a matrix visual that gets updated by the other visuals on the same page. I want this matrix visual to be results only - not some interactive filter for the rest of the page or itself. I've already selected the matrix visual, gone into format > Edit Interactions and selected "none" on all the other visuals on the page. This stops the visual from updating any other ones. However, when I am clicking through this visual, it keeps updating itself based on what I'm clicking on.
(How) can we stop clicks in a matrix visual from updating its own filter? (Obviously we still want to be able to expand rows, etc.)
Thanks!
I have the exact same issue, did you find a solution?
I've tried removing all the interactions that affect the matrix but it keeps unfiltering itself
If you have a matrix and 3 charts and you want the matrix to not be filtered when you select something on one of the charts you have to select each chart, go to edit interactions, and turn off the matrix. When editing interactions
you are setting whether the selected object interacts with the other objects.
In this screen shot I selected the top pie chart and then I can set the interaction with the matrix to none. When I select something in the pie chart, don't filter the matrix.
Or did I not understand the problem you are having?
Hi, sorry, I wasn't clear: I DO want the other visuals to filter and update the matrix (and this works just fine). I do NOT want the matrix to update the other visuals. So far, I had already followed the steps you suggest (but in the other direction). Based on your screenshot scenario, I can click on that chart and see the matrix update. If I click in the matrix areas, the charts do not update - so this is working great. I want the other visuals to be master summaries and the matrix is details based on what you're clicking on in the other visuals.
Here's the issue: Clicking within the matrix seems to update the filter applied to the matrix itself: Based on your screenshot, if I click on "AK" within the matrix results, the matrix would trim down to just "AK" values, and all other values disappear. Or if I had clicked on the chart and was able to filter the matrix to just AK, if I click on the female column in the matrix, it starts updating itself to show all female values.
I want the matrix to only represent output of the other visuals - I don't want clicking within the matrix to change what is filtered in the matrix.
Does this make more sense? (Also thanks for the fast response!)
Also I edited this like 5x back-to-back to try to be clearer! 😄
