Still cross-highlighting although Interactions are off

Hi,

I have a strange problem and it seems I'm the only one on the entire internet, that has that problem 😄

In Power BI Desktop Nov24 I'm connected to a semantic model.

I have a card visual and two tables Table1 and Table2. The Interactions are as follows:

- Card visual to Table1 and Table2 => Interaction OFF

- Table1 to Card => Interaction ON

- Table2 to all other visuals => Interaction OFF (Table 2 does not contain ANY data from any other visual)

Still, when I click on the card OR Table2, everything is refreshed and there's clearly interaction. Performance analyzer also shows "Cross highlighted visual" to all visuals, when I click Card or Table2.

Why? 🙂

BR

Hi @lukiz84

I tried building table, card visuals and set up the interactive behaviors as you described with very simple data, and they seem to work well. So I think there may be some hidden dependencies between your visuals.

Could you please share your pbix file? Or provide a sample file that can reproduce this problem. (Remove privacy information)

Best Regards,
Jarvis Tang

Hi @lukiz84 ,

The issue you're facing might be caused by hidden dependencies between visuals or internal behavior in Power BI, even when interactions are set to "OFF."

Possible causes include Power BI recalculating visuals internally, implicit dependencies like shared measures or columns, or a potential bug in the November 2024 version of Power BI Desktop.

To resolve this, first, double-check that interactions are correctly set to "None" for the card visual, Table1, and Table2. Next, test the setup in a new report with dummy data to see if the problem persists.

If none of these steps work, it could be a rare bug, and reporting it to Power BI Support might help resolve it.

@lukiz84 , Can you try pulling these three visuals on a new page, edit interactions and check ?

Hi Jai,

still same issue. I copied the visuals and even removed the previous page. No change...

@lukiz84 it might be a bug. Try publishing the report to service and check for interactions even the it is not behaving as expected. Try applying edit interactions on service. This should work!!

Thanks,

Jai
