Has anyone seen a visualization that has a column chart where the contents are a bunch of different sized bubbles? Think of a cylinder that contains different sized balls. Each ball could be a different color and size. The color could represent a category and the size could represent a dollar amount. Each ball would represent a specific item. There would be a column for separate years, each having its own balls. Does anyone know if something like this is possible and could point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
chris

Hi, @thx1138
Thanks for @vicky_ reply. In fact, the current version of Power BI Desktop does not support such visual objects, either officially included or custom added, you can submit an idea for here and the product team will take note of such a need.

Thanks for the suggestion. I created an idea if you would like to help vote for it: https://ideas.fabric.microsoft.com/ideas/idea/?ideaid=cc62b3ed-544f-ef11-b4ac-00224853e085
Take a look at this page: https://www.sqlbi.com/articles/using-scatterplots-to-find-details-in-reports/
there's an image a little way down for the different types of scatter plots, and i think the one that you're describing is the swarm plot. this isn't available in the default powerBI, but the article has a link that can provide more details on how to get that working.
hope that helps.
Hi Vicky,
That looks interesting, but it's not exactly what I am looking for. I would like the circles to be contained in a column that matches the are of a column chart, with gravity. So imagine a cylinder filled with different sized balls (golf ball, tennis ball, softball, etc.) where the size equals an amount, and there is gravity, so the top of all the balls represents the total of all the amounts each ball represents. There would be separate columns for each year so the size of the columns would be different.
I think a treemap overlay onto each column could also work.
