Sorting a stacked column chart by value rather than legend?

My data set contains a list of 15,553 records of Log sources per day and the Logs per second (EPS) associated with them. I am trying to show the Highest EPS by log source over a time span. However, my problem is that the column chart tries to sort by the legend (so text) and ignoring the value, thus not showing the top EPS but rather showing the the log sources in descending order.

When i do filter the set top top 10 based on EPS, the data isnt accurate as I was to filter top EPS for each single date.

Is there a way to:

a) Sort column chart by Values (it's currently default sort on legend)

b) Filter based on Top N value by log source by date (so essentially nested top N)

e.g: This shows the Log host breakdown by date, but the values are not stacked in descending order.

Feel free to suggest a better way to visualize this data, im a noob

  • Hi Anonymous ,

It is not supported to sort a stacked column chart by value in Power BI currently .There is an idea about this issue, please vote it up, Stacked bar chart total sort , to improve the Power BI.

It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

We also submitted this feedback to the product group internally, so that the product group can pay attention to this problem and speed up the issue repairing.
