I am working with data forms that allow for precise entry of which specific program applies. However, the sheer number of options is making the data visualization unweildy.
I'm looking for a way to either limit the graph to the most pertinent categories (highest five per month, for example) or find a way to combine similar items into new categories for cleaner trending (sales, shipping, processing, gmp, safety, etc.)
Hello @AThomasCF ,
Assuming that this is a clustered column chart, try putting the month field in small multiple section of visual.
From this:
To this:
Can see other months by scrolling vertically.
The color of each brand(in the case of above ss) separately can be changed by going to column in formattng the visual. For applying it directly, a measure can be created that holds information of which brand to be depicted by which color and then adding it to the fx part of the column colors.
Formatting of the dimensions can also be changed like currently it is 2X2, i.e can see 4 charts with two horizontal and 2 vertical. This can be made into 3X2 and so on by changing rows and column in small multiple section of format the visual.
Hope this can help you with your problem.
The problem is that I am getting extremely broken down final results that I am trying to group back. For example, I think our cumulative GMP and SPS should be highlighted, but as they are being attributed to individual locations they come in as single entries and not their combined total
For instance if I have a list of reports and they come in as
GMP Shipping
GMP Receiving
GMP Cooler Bank
GMP Processing Area 1
GMP Processing Area 2
GMP Processing Area 5
SPS Processing Area 4
Maintenance
Then it reports these all as as a result of "1" using CountRows, despite the fact that the SPS/GMP combination is what I am trying to highlight.
As this is coming in via data forms and not excel, I cannot just add a separate column and type in broader categories.
