Hello community,
i know there are already a few topics concerning sort by another column in this forum, but for my case i cant find the right solution.
I have a chart with revenues of the last three years shown by month. The chart starts according to the chronological order of months with Jan, Feb, March and so on. Our business year starts in august, thats why i want the chart to start in august. I have added a new column with "month as number" Jan = 1, Feb = 2, Mar = 3 and another column "month translation" which is related to "month as number" and translates the numbers in my favored order: 8 = 1, 9 = 2, 10 = 3 and so on.
When i now click on the chart and choose sort by "month translation" I receive the error "error by sorting by another column - this column cant by sorted by another column which was sorted direct or indirect by this column".
Do you have a creative idea?
I assume you have a calendar table. You need a month number column in your calendar table with a 1:1 match to your month name. Ie Aug = 1, Sept = 2 etc. Then go to the calendar table in data view. Click in the month name column and select "sort by column". Select the new month number column mentioned above.
Then go go to your chart and sort by month name - it will start in Aug then sept etc.
