Sort 'Months' in Matrix by chronological order

I'm trying to put some monthly data in a matrix but can't get the months to sort chronologically; I have a 'Month Number' column, which I've used succesfully to sorted my graphs (as per below) but can't get this to apply in the matrix table underneath - all help appreciated!

You have to create month sort column

Month Sort =  Month([Date])

For Month Year

Month Year sort = format([Date],"YYYYMM")

You have mark that as the sort column
